Conflict Management Negotiation & Mediation

Raphael E. Lapin is a Harvard-trained negotiation and communication specialist who serves as negotiation consultant and trainer to Fortune 500 corporations and governments globally. He has demonstrably helped clients increase revenue and growth opportunity through optimized negotiation strategy. With his advanced and experienced dispute resolution skills, he has also saved them the enormous costs of conflict. He is principal of Conflict Management, Inc, a negotiation and conflict management training and consulting group.

Raphael received his training at Harvard Law School and was accepted as one of only 24 candidates to attend Harvard Law School's Advanced Mediation Program, which he completed in 1997. He is also earning his Masters in International Relations.

Born and raised in South Africa, educated in the United Kingdom and having consulted extensively in the Middle East, Raphael brings an international richness to his work, an asset in today's world of globalization.

Raphael has authored articles on negotiation, dispute resolution and corporate and diplomatic relationship building, which have been translated into several languages. He is a syndicated columnist for the Silicon Valley Business Journal on negotiation strategies. Raphael was commissioned by DK Publishers (Penguin Books) of London to write a book for their Essential Managers Series called "Working with Difficult People." The book will be available October 2009.

He served on the board of the Northern California Mediation Association and is an advanced practitioner member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, an international organization based in Washington, DC. Raphael is also a professional member of the Institute of Management Consultants.

Raphael is a licensed pilot and volunteers for Angel Flight, an organization that flies patients from rural areas to medical centers for treatment. He also volunteers with AJWS, an organization which partners with non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) where he contributes his negotiation and conflict resolution expertise in developing regions around the world.
